NOTICE TO UNLICENSED FIXED WIRELESS PROVIDERS (ULFW) IN AMERICAN SAMOA
BEAD Funding and Location Eligibility, Action Required by June 24
The American Samoa Department of Commerce, Broadband Coordination Office (BCORD) is alerting all unlicensed fixed wireless internet providers in the Territory about important changes to the BEAD Program under new federal rules announced on June 6, 2025.
If your company currently provides internet using unlicensed fixed wireless (ULFW), and you believe your service meets the technical standards of the BEAD program, you must take the following steps:
Step 1: Submit Notice of Intent (Deadline: Tuesday, June 24, 2025)
Let us know in writing that you plan to send in evidence that your service already covers some BEAD-eligible locations. Even if you’ve submitted this kind of notice in the past, you must submit it again.
Step 2: Submit Evidence (Deadline: 7 days after your letter of intent)
After you send your letter of intent, you’ll have 7 more days to submit:
Technical proof that your service meets BEAD standards (see Appendix A of the BEAD Restructuring Policy Notice)
A list of the specific locations you currently serve
Only locations that show ULFW availability on the FCC National Broadband Map will be reviewed.Â
If you can prove your service meets the BEAD technical requirements, those locations will be removed from the list of areas eligible for BEAD funding. This helps make sure federal dollars only go to areas that truly need internet service upgrades.
For more information contact the BCORD Office at bcord@doc.as.gov please include BEAD in the subject line.
